The Horoscope of the load Buddha or the year of birth or the year of
Parinirvana couldn’t be found in India. There for this article is an invitation
Birth of the Buddha.
Details of Siduhath’s birth supported by five sources found in Sri Lanka
are given below. This is confirmed by the details furnished with the article of
Mr. M.M.Amugoda (MA) to newspaper ‘‘Maw
Bima’’ published on 8th May, 2012. It is mentioned in this article,
former famous astrologer Prof. B.V. Raman in his book ‘‘Notable Horoscope’’
provides scientific details of Buddha’s horoscope and the time periods. He
argues for the view the Asian scholars accepted the Birth year of Siduhath as
565 BCEs, it looks as though astronomical information (planetary positions)
either ignored or forgotten. The scholar, Mr. Syrus Abekoon
a Sri Lankan friend of Mr. Raman says he was sent these details by Mr
Raman and according to these details birth of Siduhath took place on Tuesday,
full moon day, in month Waishakya in Kaliyuga era 2478. Mr Abeykoon’s stanza
clearly describes the day as ‘‘Kshithi
Sutha Diwasa’’ and it is Tuesday.
But Waishakya Shukla Purnima in Kaliyuga year 2478 is 26th,
April in 624 BCE and it was a Friday.
But Mr. Raman’s view is planetary positions of that time are not
suitable for a great noble person as a Buddha to be born. Professor Raman might have made the
adjustment to the time he got from Sri Lanka and planetary positions of the
time in accordance with Lumbini in
Nepal, near Mount Everest where identified as Buddha’s birth place. According
to his research such birth has not taken in that place in that time. Prof.
Raman might be correct in this regard. It
seems that there must be a great incorrectness in time and the place of birth.
It seems no error of the time given by Sri Lanka. It is clear about the details
of palms manuscripts owned by Sri Lankan monks Waishakhya shukla purnima means
full moon day of month Wesak. It was 26th
April, 624 BCE. Not being able to
consider ‘ 0 ‘, one year difference can be caused when years of BCE calculates
to Kaliyuga years. As an example, Kliyuga years starts 3101years prior to CE.
But in tradition 3102 year is used. When
calculating kaliyuga years to years of BCE one year deference has occurred. It seems according to Mr. Amugoda's view the Buddha was born on the full moon day, on month
Wesak of Kaliyuga year 2479. It was 14th, April, 623 BCE. This argument can’t be dumped. The date can’t be an
error because full moon day does not change. Because there are other evidences
this writer takes this decision.
The scholar, Mr M.M.
Amugoda’ details of the Buddha’s horoscope were presented above. The horoscope
and details given by Dr. Piyasena Rathuwithana to newspaper ‘Mawbima’ published
on 8th May 2012 is given below.
Kaliyuga

The
following is the horoscope given in the book ‘’ Sidhartha Buddha Charithaya’’
written by most venerable Balangoda, Ananda Maithree thero.
The
difference between this horoscope and the above horoscope given by Prof.
Rathuwithana, is sun is in the 10th house in conjunction with Buddha

The horoscope given
below is very close to the horoscope given by venerable Balangoda, Ananda
Maithree thero. This horoscope is presented in the last page in the book
‘’Buddha Prathipaththi and Buddha Adahilla’’ written by venerable Walipanne of
Benthota Galapaatha Maha Vihara and Leader of Sanghas of Lanka south
commemorating the 2500th anniversary of the Buddha’s enlightenment
base upon a stanza written in Magadhi language, in Hela letters.
The
stanza is given below.
3rd
horoscope
"Vaishake masiradhe kshithi sutha diwase gishpathisetha kulire
Mine shukre sasaumya das asana kirane meshage
weiyaamini madhye
Pune chandre thulaayaa maparadishi murge
madagale kumbha gekau
Sarwagna sarwachandrya kilakapile pure jathawan shri munindro"
It is explained here

in Meena, Sun and Budha in Mesha rashi, full moon in thula rashi, Mars in
Makara rashi, Saturn in Kumbha rashi in visa nakath gauthama Buddha, achieved
enlightenment, respected by all, was born in Kapilawasthu. Rahu and Kethu were
not included in the stanza. The full horoscope was given by the thero in page
424 in his book. Two horoscopes with similarity were presented here because two
different views of the day as Tuesday and Friday. Elucidating the point further
in the first line of stanza it is said on Tuesday in mid Weask but in 3rd
line it is explained pune chandre thulaya means moon was in full in Thula rashi
in full Moon day.
Thousand years earlier
the days of the week can’t be called Sanduda (Monday) angaharuwada (Tuesday)
and it had to be a different system.
In a work entitled "Pujawaliya" reference is made to 35 cities in Madhya Mandalaya where place on
earth which would be suitable for a birth to a Buddha and 45 main cities where
Buddha’s birth does not take place( p. 108) by the author Pandith Kirialle
Gnanawimala Thero. In here Bengali, sindhu, Nepal are given as where Buddha’s
birth does not take place.
Astrology had been
special concerned by our villagers. It is a tradition in their society to
calculate auspicious times for special events. The horoscope is
special and deep significant. Our Gothama Buddha’s horoscope was seen the
villagers as follows. There are much folk poetry to accommodate how people of
hela dvipa were so closed to Gothama Buddha but only two of them was included
that refers to our topic.
4th horoscope
"Gurulu hami (guru) ada watunayi kakulu (canser)wale.
Sandahami (moon) badu kiruwayi welanda sale (thula)
Rathu hami (kuja) hatha
kiyamin mora wale
Kalu hami (shani) nondi ana ana watuini kale (kumbha)
Manamalaya (sikuru) malu (meena) godakata yata wechchi
Somiputh (budha) edha elu (mesha) galata yata wechchi
Wana mada gos dewi bambu (ravi) muna gasechchi
Ewani daka ipaduni ape budu appochchi"
Above given two folk
poetry were given in newspaper Silumina published on 29th 2012 in Gami kamayi kawi
kamayi’’ in addendum "Punkalasa".
It can be understood
in this folk poetry except the rashis occupied by rahu and kethu all other
planetary positions are given. The rashis occupied by planets given here are
very close to the horoscope presented by Ven. Ananada Maithree Thero.
In the newspaper
Lankadeepa published on 12th, January 2014 under the title ‘’Gaja
keshari and sasa yoga make enjoy royal comforts all the life’’ by the scholar Lalith Sri Sitinamaluwa explaines when
Sidduhath was born sun was exalted in the 10th house, in Mesha, guru
was exalted in Kataka in the first house, rahu was exalted in the 3rd house.
Shani was exalted in Thula in the 4th house with sandu. Kuja was
exalted in the 7th house.
Sikuru was exalted in Meena with kethu.
The scholar explained the planets thus give
rise to very powerful raja yoga, with guru, shani, ravi, kuja, budha would not
be existed in another million years and in a such planetary dispositions
another Buddha will be born.
In this letter details of the Buddha’s
horoscope were given base on five
sources. From these, the horoscope presented by the scholar Lalith Shri
Sitinamaluwa rashi occupied by shani was given as Thula and in Prof.
Rathuwithana’s horoscope sun occupied the 11th house. Apart from
that planetary dispositions are same in all five horoscopes.
Three birth times were
recorded for the Buddha according to the Sri Lankan sources. Are given below According
to Dr. Rathuwithana, it is 12.15pm, according to Balandgoda Ananada Maithree
thero it is 11.04am and scholar’s D.K. Rajapaksha’s time is 10am.
But in Sri Lanka date
of Buddha, the horoscope with planetary dispositions and all details were
recorded. Not only Buddha’s date of Birth, but also the notion was presented
that places related to the birth, enlightenment, the first sermon and
parinirwana of the Buddha were found in Sri Lanka. These facts are being
forwarded by the monks, scholars with the support of ancient books, palm
manuscripts, cave and stone inscriptions. Former famous Indian astrologer says
planetary dispositions of Buddha’s birth time were ignored. All the local and
foreign astrologers are cordially invited to conduct a research base upon the
sources found in Sri Lanka.
